World Extreme Fighting Comes to Robert Morris University

Pittsburgh, PA- Mixed Martial Arts is coming to the Steel City on January 8th to the campus of Robert Morris University. Growing in popularity, mixed martial arts features some of the best athletes in the world. Showtime MMA, a Florida-based company, will present a 10-bout, top notch fight card at 7:30 pm at Sewall Center arena.

The fight card will feature 9 time UFC veteran Din Thomas as well as local fighter “Steel City Kid” Joe DeMore. DeMore is the Captain of the Allegheny County Corrections Department.

Other local products include Pittsburgh native James Brasco and Washington, PA’s Dave Sachs, Mike Nesto. Brasco was an All-American wrestler at Duquesne University.

The fighters will wear 4 oz. open gloves and will square off in a 26-foot steel cage. The f-ights are sanctioned by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission.

The event’s producer, Jamie Levine, is also a Pennsylvania native. Levine, a former World Extreme Fighter and owner of the company World Extreme Fighting LLC, grew up in Waynesburg, PA, and was a wrestler at Waynesburg College.

As a former fighter himself, Levine says that the fight card features some top caliber athletes. “We have a strong fight card. Former Bull Rider Rob Wince is fighting; former Army veteran Rick Walters is making his MMA debut; these fighters will leave nothing outside of the cage,” Levine said.

Tickets are on sale at ticketmaster.com and all Ticket Master outlets, they range in price from $30 to $50. VIP Tables are available from $800.
