UFC 101 in Philly - Penn vs Florian
June 8th, 2009
Mike Brown managed to spoil the party... again. In front of an estimated 13,000+ at Arco Arena in Sacramento on Sunday, Brown successfully defended his WEC Featherweight title against superstar challenger Urijah Faber... in Faber's own backyard.

The reception Faber got was tremendous, almost a pro-wrestling like atmosphere. Brown was heavily booed, but moreso because he was "the rival of the hometown favorite" as opposed to anything he himself did to anger the fans.

Tickets on Sale Now For “The Future Stars of MMA” This Friday at the Orleans Hotel & Casino

LAS VEGAS – August 4, 2008 – The bright lights of Las Vegas won’t be the only ones shining bright this Friday as TUFF-N-UFF will again showcase some of the best amateur male and female mixed martial arts (MMA) athletes in bouts at The Orleans Hotel & Casino. With a little luck, fans in attendance may have the opportunity to watch many go on to become future professional stars.

“The next event will showcase some of the best male and female amateur talent looking to become the future stars of MMA,” said Barry Meyer, president of TUFF-N-UFF.

TUFF-N-UFF success is based on the fact that it spearheaded the credibility of the amateur MMA scene by being the first promoter to receive sanctioning from the Nevada Athletic Commission.

“We did the ground work making several presentations to the Nevada State Athletic Commission and receive the official amateur approval,” Meyer said. “It was tough, but it was worth all of the hard work to provide a place for the future stars of MMA to shine.”

TUFF-N-UFF events are widely recognized as the opportunity for amateur MMA fighters to make the move to the professional level. By providing them an outlet to perform in a safe environment before becoming professionals, many of the future stars of MMA started their careers on a TUFF-N-UFF card.

“After all, our first MMA event in 2003 saw several fighters move on to the hit reality show TUF, including Sam Morgan, Rob Emerson, and Shonie Carter,” Meyer added. “Jon Fitch also competed that night, and he now ties the record for the most consecutive wins in the UFC and will be fighting for the title in Minnesota the day after our event.”

Tickets for the event are currently on sale and priced starting at only $25. To purchase tickets, please call The Orleans Hotel & Casino box office at 888-365-7111 or visit the event website at www.tuffnuff.net. Las Vegas Nutrition Centers across the Las Vegas Valley have tickets available at a discounted rate. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the first bout is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. -more- About TUFF-N-UFF
