R1 MMA Welcomes Boxing Trainer Chad Wigle

he R1 Training Center, L.A.’s original MMA gym, is pleased to announce that Boxing trainer, Chad Wigle has returned to set up shop at our new Inglewood location. Chad brings with him 20 plus years of Boxing experience working with provincial, national and international amateur champions as well assisting in the development of hundreds of professional, amateur, and recreational boxers.

Chad, who is recently off a stint as the Boxing Fundamentals Head Coach with the fledgling All-American Heavyweights program, plans to run an authentic amateur Boxing program out of the legendary R1 MMA gym. Along with his amateur Boxing program, Chad will assist in the development of R1’s MMA pros, teach our Boxing classes on Monday & Wednesday evenings and be available for private lessons.

Ecstatic at the possibilities, Mr. Wigle states, “I am more than excited with the opportunity to plant my roots and create a team of new, young Boxers in Inglewood, ‘The City of Champions’. R1 already has a solid list of MMA Champions on its resume and now I look forward to adding to that list with our youth Boxing program.” With firsthand experience of the sweet science, Chad understands the value Boxing can instill in youths, including discipline, focus and structure. Coach Wigle plans to keep the program simple with only five to ten dedicated students, introducing them to the practice that hard work and smart strategies payoff.

“The kids in this program will get to know what it’s like to travel, experience the world outside of their everyday life and create opportunities from their athletic endeavors “, says the young Canadian who went on to become the exclusive Boxing coach for ‘TVs Toughest Trainer’ Jillian Michaels.

Currently Coach Wigle is teaching his Amateur Boxing program at R1 from 5pm-7pm on Monday, Wednesday & Friday. He also teaches the Monday night class, Boxing for MMA, from 7pm-8pm during our new facility build out.
