Another Milwaukee resident will be competing on the upcoming UFC 164 card.
According to German-based GroundandPound.de, welterweight fighter Pascal Krauss, who trains at Roufusport and lives in Milwaukee, WI, will take on Hyung Gyu Lim in a preliminary matchup at UFC 164, which is set to take place August 31 at Bradley Centre.
Krauss (11-1) is 2-1 so far in the UFC with wins over Mark Scanlon and Mike Stumpf and the only loss coming to top-ranked John Hathaway. The 26-year-old German-born fighter is an excellent striker and also has a very good ground game but injuries have hindered his progress up the welterweight division’s ranks as he’s only competed three times since signing with the UFC in 2010. Still, Krauss has a lot of potential and if he can take out another emerging welterweight in Kim then he’ll definitely take a step up the ladder his next time out.
Lim (11-3-1) made his UFC debut in March at UFC on FUEL TV 8 and picked up a devastating KO win over Marcelo Guimaraes to improve his win streak to six-straight wins with all of those wins coming inside the distance. The 28-year-old is a giant for the welterweight division as he stands 6’2″ and has a 79-inch reach and he’ll certainly need to use those physical attributes if he’s to take out Krauss, who will enjoy not only homefield advantage but also the benefit of not having to fly over from Asia to the United States like Lim will have to do for the match.
UFC 164 is headlined by UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson vs. TJ Grant and the co-main event is a heavyweight bout between Josh Barnett and Frank Mir.
