The UFC on Fox 7 card is now complete based on a report from CSNBayArea.com.
Nate Diaz will return to the octagon to fight former Strikeforce champion Josh Thomson on April 20 in San Jose.
Thomson has not fought since May when he lost a split decision to Gilbert Melendez in the pair’s third fight. “The Punk” is a member of the American Kickboxing Academy which also calls San Jose home. The 34-year-old is 19-5 with 1 no contest overall. He was a two-time Strikeforce champion with wins against Nam Phan in 2006 and Melendez in 2008.
Diaz, who will turn 28-years-old four days before this fight, is a member of Cesar Gracie’s team (which also includes Melendez) and last fought in December when he lost a unanimous decision to UFC champion Benson Henderson.
UFC on Fox 7 will emanate from the HP Pavilion and four fights have been announced for the main card. The main event features Henderson defending the lightweight title against Gilbert Melendez in a super fight. In heavyweight action, undefeated Daniel Cormier fights Frank Mir. Plus, welterweights Matt Brown and Dan Hardy are slated to brawl.
