After 25 minutes of war in the UFC 165 cage, Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson both made appearances in the hospital that night instead of post fight interviews. They are also both on medical suspension for 60 days and will require either a CT scan or MRI before being allowed to return. Jones will also need x-rays on his foot.
Others from UFC 165 joining Jones and Gustafsson with that same prescription include Eddie Wineland, Matt Mitrione, Chris Clements, Renee Forte and Nador Guelmino.
It was previously rumored that Glover Teixeira would be offered the next shot at the title, but after the battle that ensued, many are rallying for a rematch.
“We’ve got to see how these guys feel, (and) if anything is wrong with them, and then go from there,” said Dana White after the event. “When you see two guys get busted up like they did tonight, they don’t even want to talk about fighting for a few weeks. You’ve got to let them heal up, go home, spend some time with their family and start to get that itch again. Then, they’ll be ready to talk.”
