Jake Shields vs. Sean Pierson
Shields says he wants a top ten fighter next, but he really does not deserve it? It could be the losses he has suffered, the failed drug test, or just he way he fights, but he needs to prove that he is a top ten fighter again before he fights one of them. Pierson has won three straight fights over decent opponents, but he deserves a step up in competition for the effort he puts out. Shields seems like a logical next step for Pierson, and the good thing is none of Pierson’s fights are boring so maybe he can drag Shields into an actual fight.
Tyron Woodley vs. Jordan Mein
Woodley and Mein are still intriguing prospects in the welterweight division, but both have suffered losses after impressive debuts in the UFC. Mein has good standup and great submissions, but as it will always be the problem when facing Woodley is his wrestling. For Woodley, this will give him a real fight, and not like the one he had against Shields which he did not seem happy with.
James Krause vs. Winner of Melvin Guillard vs. Mac Danzig
Krause came away with a huge win in his debut considering it was on short notice too. Guillard and Danzig are well known fighters, but they have fallen on hard times as of late. They would be a logical next step for Krause considering he needs time to grow in the world’s largest fight promotion. Plus, either Guillard or Danzig would give him an intriguing challenge whether it is on the ground or standing depending on who wins their fight.
Roland Delorme vs. Alex Caceres
Both Caceres and Delorme have done well against the lower tier fighters in the bantamweight division, but neither of them have fought the top of the bantamweights. It is not sure that either of them can compete against them though since they have had some losses in their Octagon careers. Whoever wins this fight should get matched up with someone in the top ten, and that way making them face off will show who is ready for the next level of challenge.
Yves Jabouin vs. Bryan Caraway
Both fighters are 4-1 in their last five fights and are trying to work their way to the top of the bantamweight division. Caraway just picked up a submission victory over Johny Bedford, and Jabouin rebounded from his loss with a win over Dustin Pague. A lot of people thought Jabouin’s weakness is the submission game, but he proved he can defend against them in this win. Now, let’s see him against someone that mixes submissions with some good ground and pound like Caraway.
