Another Gracie legend in the making, plans to transition from the mat the cage in 2014.
Kron Gracie is the son of undefeated veteran Rickson Gracie (11-0). At 25 years old, the black belt has achieved world titles at both the purple and brown belt levels, and recently told Tatame Magazine that his pure jiu jitsu days may be over.
Kron has been training in California with the likes of Jake Shields, Gilbert Melendez and the Diaz brothers, and this has certainly had and influence on his decision to make the transition.
“I believe I’ll make my MMA debut next year,” said Gracie. “That’s my next step. I would move away form jiu jitsu competitions for a while to focus on that. It’s a truer fight.”
Kron’s appearance in the cage will add him to the extensive list of mixed martial arts in the “third generation” of the Gracie lineage. Others that came before him include Renzo, Ralph, Ryan, Cesar, Rodrigo, Roger, Ralek, Roles Gracie Jr, Rhalan and Igor.
