Ken Shamrock to Hold Elite Team Tryouts in Arizona June 1st

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Legend Ken Shamrock To Hold Elite Team Tryouts at His Newest Lion’s Den Training Center in Scottsdale Arizona
Shamrock’s Lion’s Den Elite fighters are respected by MMA organizations world wide

Scottsdale, AZ. – May 7, 2008 – MMA legend Ken Shamrock announced today that he will hold open tryouts for the next generation of MMA champions on June 1st at his newest Lion’s Den Facility located at 2954 N. Hayden Road in Scottsdale, Arizona. Weigh in’s for all selected competitors will begin on Sunday, June 1st at 8:30 AM with the tryouts commencing at 10:00 AM.

Try outs for Lion’s Den Elite Team hopefuls will be conducted by Ken Shamrock himself. Athletes will be required to display their skills and conditioning in a series of drills, as well as put their mixed martial arts training to the test against other competitors in an elimination style format. Only fighters that excel at all levels of the competition will earn a coveted spot on the Elite Team.

Fighters chosen for the Lion’s Den Elite Team will train with world renowned coaches, all champions and proven experts in their discipline. Lion’s Den Scottsdale’s elite coaching staff includes Ken Shamrock, Bob Karmel, Rick “the Jet” Roufus, Edwin “Bam Bam” Dewees” and Chad Ikei, from Ikei Sports Performance.” says Scott Peters, Lion’s Den Partner and offensive center for the Arizona Cardinals.

Lion’s Den Founder and MMA Legend Ken Shamrock noted that, “Lion’s Den Scottsdale fighters will have the best training, representation and sponsorship opportunities available. We will also be holding our own Ken Shamrock Production (KSP) professional MMA events nationwide which provide the athlete the opportunity to put their skills and training to the test in premier MMA promotions. No MMA training center in Arizona can bring this caliber training and exposure to their professional athletes.”

While Elite Team tryouts are open to all experienced professional fighters, each potential competitor will be required to submit a brief biography as well as their training and fight history. The entrance fee is $125. Tryouts will be highly competitive and space is limited, with a maximum of twelve spots to fill, spanning over all weight divisions. Competitors must provide their own MMA gear for the competition; including shin guards, 16 oz gloves, MMA gloves, mouth piece, head gear and groin protector.

Participants and fans will have the opportunity to tour the newest state of the art Lion’s Den MMA Facility, as well as meet Ken Shamrock and the Scottsdale instructors, during grand opening festivities on May 30th and 31st.
