Replacement in the works for fight with Eric Pele
Gary “Big Daddy” Goodridge has been forced to withdraw from his heavyweight bout versus Eric “Big E” Pele on the Maximum Fighting Championship’s MFC 16: Anger Management show slated for Friday, May 9 at the River Cree Resort and Casino. There will be a new opponent for Eric Pele soon and will be announced by the end of the week.
Goodridge, a veteran of UFC, Pride, and K-1, was expected to make his debut on Canadian soil but the Barrie, Ont., native recently suffered a back injury. In fact, due to the damage, Goodridge announced that he will require surgery on the sciatic nerve in his lower back.
“It’s disappointing that he won’t be fighting but we will find a very suitable replacement immediately,” said MFC Owner/President Mark Pavelich. “Gary told me that he still expects to attend the show and that he hopes to be able to fight in the MFC later this year.”
MFC 16: Anger Management features a welterweight showdown between undefeated sensation Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford and H.I.T. Squad member C.J. Fernandes, who is trained by UFC legend Matt Hughes.
The few remaining tickets for MFC 16: Anger Management are available through the MFC Ticket Hotline at (780) 504-2024. Be a part of the electric scene as the MFC lights up The Venue at River Cree with its ninth straight sold-out crowd.
