Invicta FC Results
Invicta FC put on their 6th event, and while it did not have as many finishes as some of their earlier cards it was still packed with action. Cyborg won her next belt by battering Marloes Coenen over four rounds. It just goes to show that Cyborg is too strong and she may be right in her assessment that she cannot drop down to 135. The next challenge for her title was supposed to be decided in a bout with Ediane Gomes and whoever she was currently matched up with. She had the worst luck leading up to the event. She had three different opponents, and her last one, Tamikka Brents hurt her knee warming up in the back before they even made it out to fight. It is unknown if Gomes will just be given the title shot since she was supposed to welcome Cyborg into Invicta FC originally.
Claudia Gadelha moved to 10-0 in her career with a third round TKO of the formerly undefeated Ayak Hamasaki. This was actually supposed to be a title fight with Hamasaki taking on Carla Esparza. Now, Gadelha will move on to face Esparza possibly at the next event. Another number one contender that was determined was for the Flyweight title in a bout between Leslie Smith and Jennifer Maia. Smith’s size played the advantage as she just dropped from Bantamweight for this fight after a loss to Sarah Kaufman, and now with her fight of the night win over Maia she will be fighting for a title against the champion Barb Honchak.
For the rest of the card, Lauren Taylor stayed undefeated by beating the always tough Sarah D’Alelio. Former Atomweight champion Jessica Penne rebounded with a first round submission over Nicdali Calanoc. Undefeated Strawwaeight Joanne Calderwood took a decision over Norma Center. 18 year old Mizuki Inoue made an impressive Invicta FC debut by beating former title contender Bec Hyatt in her debut. Lastly, Rose Namajunas lost her first fight in a close decision loss against Tecia Torres. The only issue is that a lot of people believe the bout was scored wrong and that Namajunas should have won.
MMA Super Heroes 1
While you may not know this promotion, there is a chance three of the winners from these fights could find their way into Invicta FC. Juliana Aguiar who has earned four straight wins after opening her career at 2-3. Luckily all three of her losses came to Vanessa Porto who did challenge for the title in Invicta. Also, strawweight up and comer Herica Tiburcio rebounded from the first two losses of her career. One loss comes to a fighter she has a win over, and the other loss came to number one contender in Invicta FC at strawweight Claudia Gadelha. In this fight, she became the first person to submit Kinberly Novaes who was on a six fight win streak.
Lastly, Carina Damm continues to damage her career, because after testing positive for a banned substance she has continued to fight. This time she took on Kalindra Farai who Damm had finished by TKO before, but this time Farai was able to submit Damm in the first round by armbar. That marks seven straight win for Farai, and her last three were all by arm bar. She now sits at 11-3 in her career with her first loss to Damm avenged, and her other two losses come to Invicta level talent in Claudia Gadelha and Vanessa Porto. Both of those losses were by submission which it seems Farai has worked on extensively since then considering she just submitted Damm who is a black belt in BJJ.
