AUBURN HILLS, MI—Mixed Martial Arts promoter Joseph Donofrio announced today that he will donate a portion of the proceeds of his January 30th MMA show at the Palace of Auburn Hills to the victims of the earth quake in Haiti. The quake registered 7.0 on the Richter Scale and the estimated loss of lives is in the thousands, not to mention the wide spread destruction.
“This is a tragedy of immense proportions”, Donofrio said after seeing the reports on the news channels. “This affects almost 2 million people, including 30,000 Americans, Just imagine this happening in Detroit. We will make efforts to get in touch with organizations such as the American Red Cross and UNICEF”.
The MMA show is among the first professional cards to perform under the new Michigan Unarmed Combat Commission, which was formally the boxing commission.
